Admissions

As a University Model School, we at Community Christian School believe it is necessary to fully explain our uniqueness and philosophy of education in a way that is inviting, facilitative, and informative to enable our perspective families to make the most informed decision about their children’s educational future.
Below is how the process works and what your next step might be:
Attend an Informational Meeting – Parents are required to attend an on-campus information meeting about CCS and the University Model method. These meetings are held at scheduled times, and parents will receive their admissions packet of materials at these meetings.
Review material and pray – After the information meeting, please carefully review the distributed material about the school. If you have questions, then please do not hesitate to contact us. We do want to help you make the wisest decision possible for your children.
Complete Application for Admissions and return to the office – If, after reviewing the school material and praying about your decision, you believe the appropriate decision is to proceed forward, then please complete the enclosed Application for Admissions and return the form to the school office. Please note that the actual date when you formally apply for admission will be used in helping to determine course registration priorities over other new students. Please also note that there is a $15 per family application fee required at this time and a $45 per student placement fee. (For applications received before May 25th CCS will wave the fee of $15)
Placement Test and Evaluation – CCS will provide Placement Testing to better assess where students should be most appropriately placed in each course. All students should bring copies of any school grade reports and/ achievement testing (within the last 2 years) at the time of testing. This information will also be used along with your placement test results. Call the office to schedule a testing date.
Course Registration – After hearing of your interest to continue, the school’s registrar will forward a registration packet to you and will be available to help with your course registration questions.
Family Interview – School admissions is a one-time process that is handled by the admissions committee. The purpose of this meeting is to make certain that each family has had a personal opportunity to have all of their questions about the school answered and to make certain that this school is the appropriate choice for their children. A representative from the admissions committee will call to arrange an interview.
Letter of Acceptance – Once the interview process has been completed; each family will receive a letter from the admissions committee. This letter will indicate the admissions committee’s decision. A second letter will be forwarded to you from the administration to confirm each student’s course schedule.
Please note, however, that a confirmed schedule will remain in a pending status until the admissions process has been completed. In the same manner, an acceptance letter from the admissions committee will not automatically confirm a requested course schedule. Both involve a separate process. Please do not hesitate to call if we can be of help!
Parent Training and Resource List – All parents new to CCS are required to attend a Parent Training before their students may attend classes. This training and other parent type trainings and support groups are meant to be a resource to help parents better understand the University Model approach to educating their children and support them in discipling their children. There is also a Parent Resource List of recommended readings for parents. “Shepherding a Child’s Heart”, by Tedd Tripp is required reading for all faculty, staff, and parents of CCS students.
Parent Trainings and other important trainings and meetings will provided during Orientation Week, the week prior to the first day of school in the fall.
Community Christian School is accountable only for the courses selected and attempted at CCS. Any course instruction received at other schools or instruction provided through home education is the responsibility of the parent. Transfer of credit to CCS for any such instruction may be granted if in accordance to CCS's policies concerning credit transfer.
Parent and Student Responsibilities
CCS is a university-model Christian school. Because of this, both parent involvement and student cooperation are essential if CCS is to successfully fulfill its mission, a mission which includes a vital spiritual element. Therefore, as a condition of acceptance to this school, the parents of each student applying for admission must be in agreement with the school's doctrinal position.
It also is necessary that CCS have parent and student guidelines to facilitate the acceptance of those students appropriately suited for a university-model school format. Those guidelines are as follows:
Parental Guidelines:
- Parents must be in agreement with the school's purpose and spiritual objectives, and be willing to abide by the school's rules and regulations.
- Parents must be committed to the parental responsibility for providing a quality, Christian education for their children in accordance with existing law.
- Parents must be active members of a Christian church that is in keeping with the CCS Statement of Faith.
- Parents must be willing to use a Christian Conciliation Service if ever necessary.
- Parents must be willing to provide CCS with a completed application form for each child applying for admission, along with transcripts and transfer credit requests from previous schools or home school.
- Parents must be in agreement with, and supportive of, the school's procedure's for handling student discipline.
- Parents must be willing to provide continually updated immunization records for each child.
- Parents must be willing to have the child's picture in the school's yearbook.
- Parents must be willing to have each family's name, phone number, and address listed in the CCS directory.
- Parents must acknowledge that each child has reviewed CCS's “Code of Conduct” and “Dress Code Policy” and is willing to abide by those policies.
- Parents must be willing to sign a statement each semester indicating that they accept the primary responsibility for their children's behavior at school and student supervision at home. The statement shall include acknowledgement of their responsibility to be familiar with the policies of the school as published in the current school catalogue and other official means of communication. In addition, parents shall be willing to participate in any parent-education requirements that are listed in the Required Statement of Parent Responsibility.
Student Guidelines:
Required Statement of Parent Responsibility
The following statement appears on the semester Registration Agreement, which is located on the reverse side of the Family Fees and Payment Worksheet. This statement must be signed by both parents/legal guardians and returned before any student's registration can be processed.
In enrolling one or more of our children in Community Christian School, a school which affirms the comprehensive responsibility of parents for the education of their children, we acknowledge and accept primary responsibility of our children's behavior at school and their student supervision at home. We also acknowledge that we are responsible to be familiar with and consult the policies of the school as published in the current catalogue and other official means of communication, such as monthly newsletters, before making decisions affecting our child(ren)'s or our family's relationship with Community Christian School.
We further agree that should difficulties arise from our failure to be familiar with or consult published school policies (including, for example, the school refund policy, as stated in the school catalogue under “Financial Policies”) when making decisions affecting our relationship or our child(ren)'s relationship with the school, we will accept full responsibility for the results of our decisions.
In addition, we agree to attend parent meetings (possibly 1-4 meetings during the school year) that are intended to help parents better understand their role in a university-model school, and we agree to meet the parent requirements associated with the current “Parent Resource List.”
Admission Procedures
