Mr. Christian Dancy
I graduated from Westfield State University in 2011 with a BA in music with concentrations in jazz studies and guitar performance. In February of 2018, I graduated with a MA in Music composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. I began teaching at CCS in 2011. For the past sixteen years, I have also worked as an independent lessons instructor teaching guitar, piano, bass guitar, improvisation, and music theory. I also work as a freelance musician performing in groups and as a solo artist.
In 2013, I married my beautiful wife, Chelsea, and we now have two incredible children--the most awesome little boy and the most adorable little girl! I enjoy listening to music, practicing my guitar, reading, and traveling.
I love music and I believe that, first and foremost, music is a form of worship, regardless of the style. This is what I try to instill in my students. From day one, I share many verses from the book of Psalms that speak of praising God on many different types of instruments as well as through song. Through the curriculum, I teach this principle and try to instill a love of many genres of music, as well as teaching each student the principals of the language of music.
Psalm 33:2-4: "Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth."
